Matt Smolley

Matt Smolley brings a strong background in AAA hockey, both as a player and coach. His playing career includes time at the U15 and U18 AAA levels, along with experience in the junior system, giving him firsthand knowledge of the competitive pathway.

As a coach within the Bigfoot program, Matt has worked across multiple teams and age groups, helping players navigate key development stages and prepare for higher levels of competition.

Matt focuses on building competitive, detail-oriented players who understand the game and can execute under pressure. His practices emphasize pace, decision-making, and situational awareness, ensuring players are prepared for real game scenarios.

As Head Coach of the 14U AAA Bigfoot team for the 2026/27 season, Matt plays a critical role in bridging development into competition within the P3 Pathway, preparing athletes for the demands of AAA and beyond.
